Sustainability Strategy at a Health & Beauty Company


Challenge

A large manufacturer of health and beauty products wanted to establish itself as a leader in sustainability. The company needed a sustainability strategy to address key stakeholder needs (customers, suppliers, employees, investors) and a high-level plan for operationalizing its strategy.

Solution

We developed a comprehensive Sustainability Strategy to guide the company’s path to industry leadership in sustainability.  The strategy codified the company’s existing sustainability efforts, incorporated the most important issues to its key stakeholders, and outlined specific initiatives and goals for sustainable growth.

The process involved identifying material sustainability issues through stakeholder interviews, research, and industry benchmarking  (competitors, customers, suppliers).  Working closely with senior management, we prioritized material issues, developed an over-arching sustainability framework, and determined key initiatives and goals/targets.  To ensure success, we developed operational goals such as a sustainability governance structure, processes, and reporting systems. Lastly, we crafted tailored communications across targeted channels to convey the company’s sustainability narrative to key stakeholders.
