Leadership
Sama Sustainability was born out of the founders’ shared concerns about climate change and the world they were leaving behind for their children. Recognizing their complementary experiences and skills across business strategy, marketing and communications, sustainability and social impact, Susan Doherty and Renee Soulliard joined forces to launch Sama Sustainability.
Susan Doherty
With over two decades of experience, Susan excels in crafting sustainability, social impact, and communications strategies aligned with business goals and stakeholder expectations. Her passion for fostering positive change extends to championing the circular economy, advocating for climate justice, and cultivating impactful brand partnerships. An award-winning crisis communicator, she has adeptly guided businesses through natural disasters like wildfires, sensitive issues around race and social justice, and challenging mergers and acquisitions.
In addition to a Bachelor's Degree in Communications, Susan holds an MBA with extensive coursework in sustainability from the University of Denver, a graduate certificate in CSR / ESG from the University of Colorado Boulder, and a certificate in writing from UCLA, as well as additional training in GHG accounting and the circular economy.
An avid hiker, mountain biker, and road cyclist, Susan's passion for the great outdoors underpins her sustainability and climate work. She's presently volunteering for 350.org and the Climate Reality Project.
Renée Soulliard
Renée brings over two decades of global business expertise to her sustainability work, guiding businesses through the rapidly evolving ESG landscape. She excels at helping companies better understand not only the business risks but also the new opportunities on their sustainability journey.
Renee’s passion for sustainability was born out of her love of both nature and travel, and fueled by her concerns about the world she was leaving for her two daughters. In addition to her consulting work, she's presently lending her expertise as a volunteer for the Climate Reality Project.
Renée holds an MBA from Harvard Business School, a B.S. in Economics from the Wharton Business School, certificates in Corporate Sustainability Management from the Yale School of Management and ESG Risks & Opportunities from the Wharton School, and specialized training in GHG Accounting and Corporate Sustainability Reporting.
She enjoys spending time with her family, skiing, hiking, and traveling in her spare time.
